The Tashikin CDV/CIV Ag Combo Test is an indispensable tool for veterinarians managing cases of Canine Infectious Respiratory Disease Complex (CIRDC). It provides rapid, differential detection of two of the most significant viral causes: Canine Distemper, a severe systemic disease, and Canine Influenza, a highly contagious primary respiratory pathogen. Quick identification allows for immediate implementation of appropriate biosecurity measures, prognosis discussions, and supportive care plans.
Your Path to a Rapid Respiratory Workup:
Test Coughing Dogs
The ideal frontline test for any dog presenting with coughing, sneezing, and nasal or ocular discharge.
Screen New Intakes
A crucial screening tool for new arrivals in high-risk settings like shelters, daycares, and boarding kennels to prevent outbreaks.
Differentiate Serious Threats
Rapidly distinguish between CIV, which requires strict isolation, and the more severe, systemic threat of CDV, which carries a grave prognosis.

Collect Sample
Collect a sample of ocular discharge, nasal fluid, or saliva from the dog using the provided sterile swab.
Prepare Sample
Insert the swab into the assay buffer tube. Rotate the swab vigorously in the buffer to ensure thorough mixing.
Apply Sample
Using the provided dropper, add 3 drops of the extracted fluid from the buffer tube into the sample well (S) of the test cassette.
Read Results
Interpret the test results at 10 minutes. The cassette has separate result lines for CDV and CIV.
Manage and Contain Respiratory Outbreaks
In a kennel or shelter, a single coughing dog can lead to a facility-wide outbreak. Logging CDV and CIV results in VetEx.ai provides real-time surveillance, helping you to quickly identify the causative agent, track the spread, and implement a targeted, effective response to protect the entire population.
