A Critical Marker for Thromboembolic Disease and DIC

In critically ill patients, get a rapid, quantitative assessment of fibrinolysis. D-dimer is an essential tool for investigating and managing conditions like DIC, IMHA, and other thromboembolic events.

The Tashikin D-dimer Test provides a quantitative measurement of a specific fibrin degradation product, which becomes elevated when cross-linked fibrin clots are broken down. This makes it a highly sensitive marker for the presence of thrombosis. A normal D-dimer level has a high negative predictive value, helping to rule out thromboembolic disease. Conversely, an elevated level is a key indicator in the diagnosis and management of life-threatening conditions like Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation (DIC), pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE), and Immune-Mediated Hemolytic Anemia (IMHA).

Your Path to Managing Critical Patients:

1

Rule Out Thrombosis

Use its high negative predictive value to confidently rule out significant thromboembolic disease in patients with a low clinical suspicion.

2

Support a DIC Diagnosis

An elevated D-dimer is one of the most sensitive laboratory abnormalities for DIC and a critical component of a full coagulation panel.

3

Monitor High-Risk Patients

Track D-dimer levels in patients at high risk for thrombosis, such as those with IMHA, protein-losing nephropathies, or post-operatively.

Performance validated against established reference laboratory methods to ensure reliable results for critical care decision-making.

1

Prepare Sample

Collect whole blood, or prepare serum/plasma, according to standard laboratory procedures. Citrated plasma is often preferred.

2

Add Sample

Using a micropipette, add exactly 100µL of the prepared sample into the sample well of the test cassette.

3

Add Buffer

Add 2 drops of the provided assay buffer into the same well and start the timer immediately.

4

Read Result

At 10 minutes, insert the cassette into the Tashikin FIA Analyzer to obtain the quantitative D-dimer concentration.

Track Coagulation Markers in Real-Time

The status of a critically ill patient can change rapidly. By logging serial D-dimer results alongside other parameters in VetEx.ai, you can build a clear, visual timeline of their coagulopathic state, enabling more responsive and informed therapeutic interventions.
