A single blood glucose measurement can be misleading due to stress, especially in feline patients. The Tashikin HbA1c Test overcomes this by measuring glycosylated hemoglobin, which reflects the average blood glucose concentration over the lifespan of the red blood cell (2-3 months). This provides a stable, reliable assessment of long-term glycemic control, making it an essential tool for diagnosing and managing diabetes mellitus in both dogs and cats.
Your Path to Stable Diabetes Management:
Differentiate from Stress
In cats with hyperglycemia, a high HbA1c helps confirm persistent high glucose, differentiating diabetes from transient stress hyperglycemia.
Monitor Insulin Efficacy
Use quarterly to assess if the current insulin protocol is effectively controlling blood glucose over the long term, beyond daily curves.
Improve Client Compliance
Provide owners with a single, easy-to-understand metric that reflects their pet's overall diabetic control and management success.

Collect Sample
Collect a whole blood sample from the patient in an EDTA (purple top) tube.
Prepare Sample
Invert the EDTA tube gently to mix. Add 10µL of whole blood into the provided buffer tube and mix thoroughly.
Apply Sample
Using a fresh pipette tip, add 75µL of the mixed sample-buffer solution into the sample well of the test cassette.
Read Result
Insert the cassette into the Tashikin FIA Analyzer immediately. The quantitative HbA1c result will be displayed in 5 minutes.
Track Long-Term Trends for Proactive Care
Effective diabetes management is a long-term commitment. By plotting serial HbA1c results in VetEx.ai, you can visualize the patient's glycemic trends over years, allowing for more informed adjustments to insulin therapy and diet, and providing a clear record of their metabolic health.
