Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) is a significant retrovirus that weakens a cat's immune system, leading to a higher susceptibility to secondary infections and certain types of cancer. The Tashikin FIV Ab Rapid Test detects the host's antibodies to the virus, which is the primary method of diagnosis. Identifying an FIV-positive cat is a critical step in establishing a lifelong health management plan focused on proactive care, and is essential for preventing transmission to other cats in a household.
Your Path to Responsible Feline Care:
Test Every New Cat
Following AAFP guidelines, test all new cats and kittens to establish their FIV status upon entering a home or clinic population.
Investigate Sick Patients
Test any cat with a history of recurrent infections, chronic gingivitis, unexplained weight loss, or fever.
Manage Multi-Cat Households
Screen all cats in a household to understand the risk of transmission and provide appropriate management advice to owners.
