The Tashikin FCoV Ag Rapid Test detects the presence of Feline Coronavirus antigen in feces, indicating active viral shedding. While Feline Enteric Coronavirus is common and often causes only mild or subclinical diarrhea, its presence is a prerequisite for the development of Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP). This test is therefore a vital tool for health screening in multi-cat environments. **Important Note: This test detects shedding of the enteric coronavirus and CANNOT diagnose FIP.**
Your Path to Managing Feline Population Health:
Screen New Arrivals
Identify cats actively shedding FCoV before introducing them to a shelter, cattery, or multi-cat household to manage transmission.
Investigate Diarrhea
Use as part of a comprehensive diagnostic panel for cats, especially kittens, presenting with acute or chronic diarrhea.
Inform FIP Risk Assessment
While not a test for FIP, knowing a cat's shedding status can be one piece of the puzzle in the complex workup of a suspected FIP case.

Performance validated against PCR reference methods for the detection of FCoV RNA in feline feces.
Collect Fecal Sample
Collect a fresh fecal sample from the cat using the provided swab.
Prepare Sample
Insert the swab into the assay buffer tube. Agitate the swab vigorously in the fluid to ensure the sample is well-dissolved.
Apply Sample
Using the provided dropper, add 3-4 drops of the extracted fluid from the buffer tube into the sample well (S) of the test cassette.
Read Results
Interpret the test results at 10 minutes. A positive result indicates the cat is actively shedding FCoV antigen. Do not read after 15 minutes.
A Cornerstone of Shelter Medicine Protocols
Managing FCoV is a fundamental challenge in any multi-cat population. Logging fecal Ag test results in VetEx.ai allows shelter managers and veterinarians to track the prevalence of shedding, implement effective quarantine and hygiene protocols, and make data-driven decisions to protect the health of the entire population.
