Canine Leishmaniasis is a severe, systemic disease with a wide range of clinical presentations, from chronic skin and ocular lesions to life-threatening kidney failure. As the disease becomes more widespread due to pet travel, rapid screening is crucial. The Tashikin Leishmania Ab Test is a simple, effective tool for detecting a host immune response to the parasite. A positive result is a strong indicator of exposure and is a critical first step in the diagnostic workup for this complex disease.
Your Path to Managing a Complex Disease:
Screen At-Risk Dogs
Essential for screening dogs living in or traveling to endemic areas (e.g., the Mediterranean, South America) and for blood donors.
Investigate Clinical Signs
The ideal first test for dogs presenting with chronic skin lesions (e.g., exfoliative dermatitis), weight loss, or lymphadenopathy.
Support a Diagnosis
A positive antibody result in a clinically ill dog is highly supportive of a diagnosis and justifies further confirmatory testing and staging.
